Roadway Restoration
Learn about final road restoration and active transportation construction.
With guideway construction now complete in some sections of the SkyTrain extension, crews are working to restore and upgrade Fraser Highway, as well as surrounding sidewalks, and active transportation pathways.
These activities typically take place once the launching gantry has moved through an area. Work is focused on rebuilding road surfaces and completing permanent features.
While this marks an important step, SkyTrain construction will continue across the project corridor for some time.
What to expect
- Removal and replacement of existing asphalt
- Construction of curbs, sidewalks, and active transportation pathways
- Finishing work to pave and restore two lanes of traffic in each direction on Fraser Highway

Impacts
- Temporary disruptions to driveways and intersections where work is taking place
- Access to businesses and residences will be maintained, but may shift while work is taking place
- Temporary changes to traffic patterns around work areas
Crews will work to minimize disruptions wherever possible.
Traffic control personnel and signs will be in place to guide drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians safely through work zones.
As this work is completed, restored roads, new sidewalks, and pathways will be visible. These features will open to the public only once it is safe to do so and when connections to surrounding roads and traffic patterns are fully in place.
Check our Weekly Traffic Advisory for the latest information on traffic impacts in your area.
