First Nations

Consultation and engagement with First Nations will continue throughout project delivery.

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is being constructed in the ancestral territories of the Coast Salish peoples, and in particular the q̓ic̓əy (Katzie), q́ʷɑ:ńƛ̓əń (Kwantlen), máthxwi (Matsqui), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) and sc̓əwaθn məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen) First Nations.

Consultation and engagement with First Nations began in 2019 and will continue throughout project delivery.

This includes information sharing, incorporation of input into Project design and documents, consultation on the Environmental Screening Review (ESR), participation in field studies (including archaeological investigations) and discussions around cultural recognition opportunities.
